How far can a car travel on one litre of fuel? Now it’s almost 5000kms!

On the subject of innovation, A record has been smashed in the Shell Eco-marathon Europe. In 2005 the ETH Zurich team managed to travel 3836km on one litre of fuel, but in May Polytech’ Nantes smashed that distance by an impressive 1060km, covering 4896.1km – the same as driving from the northern tip of Norway to the southern tip of Italy.

Team leader Pauline Tranchard said afterwards: “We believe there is still room for improvement. If there hadn’t been so much wind and we hadn’t had a flat on our last run, I guess we would have done even better.”
