Penske hails 300th victory
Penske Racing has another reason to celebrate during its successful 2008 season – it has now notched up 300 victories. Ryan Briscoe’s maiden IRL IndyCar Series win at Milwaukee in June (above) marked Penske’s triple century since team boss Roger Penske became a full-time owner in 1966. It follows on the heels of a one-two in the Daytona 500, a first overall triumph for the team in one of the sports car blue ribands at Sebring and a 14th Indy 500 victory.
Roger Penske paid homage to the people who have made his team so successful in so many branches of the sport over five decades.
“This is a celebration for everyone who has been part of the Penske Racing family for the past 42 years. A milestone like 300 wins couldn’t be accomplished without a great team, some of the best drivers, team members and sponsors in the business.”
