Moss honoured with bronze statue

Leicestershire track adds to its collection of racing-related art

A life-sized bronze statue of Sir Stirling Moss OBE has been unveiled at Mallory Park to join the circuit’s growing collection of tributes to the greats of British motor racing. John Surtees and Colin Chapman are already similarly honoured at the Leicestershire track.

Among those paying tribute to Sir Stirling at the unveiling were John Surtees MBE, Raymond Baxter OBE, Charles Morgan, Chris Meek and Tim Parnell.

Also present were 20 racing cars from Moss’s career including his first, a 2.5-litre Cooper Alta, and the Lotus 18 he took to victory at Monaco in 1961.

Moss said: “It is enormously honouring to have a statue in recognition of your career.”
