Fatality at VSCC Cadwell Park

The annual VSCC race meeting at Cadwell Park in June ended in tragedy when Len Thompson was killed and Pete Candy seriously injured in a crash on Park Straight at the Lincs track.

In the final scratch race of the day, Thompson’s Lagonda Rapier collided with Candy’s Riley Special and then hit a marshals’ post. Thompson was pronounced dead on attival at hospital in Grimsby, while Candy was airlifted to hospital suffering from multiple broken bones. A marshal, Bob Yarrow from Scunthorpe, suffered a broken ankle in the incident.

The local police and Coroner will investigate the crash.

Thankfully, Candy has made good progress and is due to be released later this month.
