A ‘Festival of Motorsport’ will mark 100 years of racing in Dublin’s Phoenix Park on August 16/17. This will form part of the annual meeting within the grounds of this famous public space.

Although motorsport activity in Phoenix Park can be traced back to the time of the Gordon Bennett Trophy in Ireland, it was in 1929 that the race meeting was established.

In 1930, Rudolf Caracciola won the Irish Grand Prix for Mercedes over a 4.25-mile circuit.

In recent years the event has centred on contemporary Irish racing classes, but remains one of Ireland’s biggest motorsport occasions.

An exhibition of Jordan Formula One cars will be one of the major attractions at the event, to which admission is free.
