Early warning

I have just been reading the article about the BMW 2002’s rally career in your June issue.

It refers to the fitting of a Mini heater to a lightweight version of the 2002, and to the surprise of the BMC dealer asked to supply the parts.

As a hardened ‘Mini-ist’, it struck me as slightly ironic that, in 1973, the idea of BMW using even some bits of a Mini seemed odd, yet not so many years later they wanted the whole brand!
