Padworth's exhibition of famous and historic cars (July 17th)

This typically English happening took place in the grounds of Padworth College, Aldermaston, in aid of the Save the Children Fund. The organisation was a credit to Major Charles Lambton, the events taking place on time and the whole programme being run with military proficiency. As if all this wasn’t enough, Major Lambton drove his H.W.M. in the racing-car parade, and his wife Lady Elizabeth Lambton entered her Porsche in the Concours d’Elegance, which was judged by famous screen personalities. The Concours d’Etat, judged on original condition and owner-restoration rather than cleanliness and elegance, so many of the pristine Rolls-Royce missed the prizes. There was an excellent display of racing cars, from Arnold-Forster’s 1922 Delage to Patsy Burt’s Cooper-Climax.—W. B.
