Morgans galore

Sir,

I am interested in your article on Morgans, having had thirteen 3-wheelers and one four. My first was in 1913—J.A.P. a/c., and most reliable. I won’t weary you with the full list. The picture is of a Morgan I had in 1916. The M.A.G. engine has two No. 1 cylinders, the original being spoilt by frost and a replacement being then unobtainable (note the steel-studded tyre). You mention the 1919 Scottish Six Days’. Alan Hill and his wife were driving their very smart Morgan; Alan being fresh from the Air Force. I was, as it happens, No. 2 in this trial, there being no No. 1, and I was therefore, I think, the first rider (Rover 6-h.p. motorcycle, spring-chain drive) in the first Open Trial after the First World War. My count to date is 68 cars (13 of them Clynos) and 89 motorcycles. I have held a driving licence for 55 years, still clean.
