New petrols

Travelling to the far North for the British G.P. in the security and comfort of a Citroën DS we noticed that two new petrols are now available in Britain besides Jet and Total, namely Lobitos and V.I.P. The last named is sold at “5d. off.” It needs but elementary calculation to see that a motorist covering 30,000 miles a year at 30 m.p.g. on V.I.P. will not only save enough to pay his annual car tax at the recently increased rate but will have a “fiver” over towards insurance!
