Brands Hatch – Inter-Continental

The 200-mile Guards Trophy race at Brands Hatch on August 7th may well be the final fling of the Inter-Continental Formula. This rather mis-named formula, which has seen little foreign opposition for the British cars, has taken a poor second place to the new Formula 1. Stirling Moss, who has won three Inter-Continental races so far (Goodwood and the two Silverstone races) will once again drive Rob Walker’s Cooper, while teams from Cooper, Lotus, B.R.M., Yeoman Credit, U.D.T.-Laystall, and Centro-Sud are also entered. Jack Fairman will drive the Ferguson and private entries will come from Dan Gurney, Tony Marsh, Tim Parnell and Brian Naylor. The rumoured Ferrari entry looks unlikely to materialise.

Other races will be a 20-lap F.J. event, a 20-lap G.T. race and a 20-lap touring-car race. Racing commences at 12.30 p.m.
