After an adequate but undistinguished schooling, Mr. Beat spent two years before the war with the Press Association, and on the outbreak of war was commissioned in the West Yorkshire Regiment. Here his education really started. His war service included assignments with the 0)3A-end-dagger boys, and finally, after being wounded, with the 8th Army in Italy as Public Relations Officer.

After leaving the army, he joined the BAI.C. as an announcer, and then became Sports Commentator in Northern Ireland, covering international Rugby matches, the T.T., Ulster Grand Prix and many hexing contests.

Leaving the B.B.C. at the end of 1951, he joined the publicity staff of the Daily Express, and in January, 1953,. joined National Benzoic Company, Ltd.

Ile has written scripts for many radio productions, and also the recently released film ” High Speed.” An enthusiastic motorist, he has competed in many club events and rallies.

ilia hobbies are short-story writing, motoring, Rugby football, boxing and collecting ash-trays. HiS car is a Hillman Minx.
