The B.A.R.C. Sports-Car Race at Jersey on July 10th was an easy victory for Ian Stewart in an almost brand new Jaguar XK120C. Stewart won both his heat and the final. Ken Wharton, in a new version of Le Mans Frazer-Nash, drove brilliantly, beating the DB3 Aston-Martins of Abecassis and Parnell in spite of giving them over half a litre! The DB3s had four-speed in place of five-speed gearboxes for this race. In the second heat Oscar Moore’s H.W.M.-Jaguar went remarkably well, leading almost throughout from Pannell’s DB3 and snatching it back on the last lap after Parnell had gone momentarily out in front. In the Final Moore could do nothing about Stewart’s XK120C but led Abecassis until the H.W.M.’s over-bored Jaguar engine threw a rod. Jim Mayers and Pat Griffiths led the 1½-litre class from Davis’ Cooper-M.G.
