ENTRIES FOR R.A.C. TOURIST TROPHY RACE

ENTRIES in the R.A.C. Tourist Trophy Race have closed with a total of forty-one. The race will take place over the Ards Circuit near Belfast, on Saturday, 1st September next.

There are ten more entries than were received last year ; the entry this year being fully representative of British sports cars. It comprises eleven different makes, and ten manufacturers’ teams, and the competition for the Manufacturers’ Team Prize presented by the S.M.M. & T., Ltd., should, in consequence, prove remarkably keen.

For the first time since the Tourist Trophy Race was held in Belfast in 1928, there are no 750 c.c. cars entered. Whilst this is to be regretted, it will probably not detract from the interest in the race. The following is the complete list of entries :

Masi C (OM 3,000 c.o. and up to 5,000 c.c.).

A. Ashton Rigby (M.G. Magna). L. Klemantaski (Junior Racing Drivers’ Club)

(2 Singer). The Lagondas entered by A. W. Fox will have special light bodis and a high

axle ratio. They will be driven by the Hon. Brian Lewis, J. S. Hindinarsli and John Cobb. The three Fords will be special lowered cars prepared and fitted with bodies by Jensen, of Birmingham. The Talbots will be two of the team ” 105 “s formerly entered at Ulster and elsewhere, and one of them will be driven by T. E. Rose Richards. Powys-Lybbe’s Alvis is one of the old Silver Eagles.

Thorpe’s Fraser Nash is fitted with one of the 1,600 c.c. 6-cylinder engines, while the other Nash cars will have either the new 4-cylinder engines or the 1i-litre sixes. The Magnettes in the 1 i-litre class are the new ” N” type 1,250 c.c. cars, while Aston Rigby is driving an ” L ” type 1,100 c.c. machine. It is notable that the principal strength of the official Riley entry is concentrated in the 1,100 c.c. class.

The limit cars in this year’s race have to cover 35 laps, or a distance of 480 miles, making it the longest and most strenuous test yet staged on the Ards circuit.
