THE NEW BENTLEY.

THE frequent rumours which have circulated concerning the new car which will carry the familiar badge Of the ” Winged B ” bear witness to the interest with which it is awaited. The Rolls-Royce Company, who are Of course the owners of Bentley (1929) Ltd., have not yet revealed their programme, but from a source usually -well-informed we have received the following particulars of the new car :

Wheelbase, 10′ 6″. Track 4′ 8″.

Cylinder capacity, approx. 31 litres. 25.3 h.p., R.A.C. Rating.

6 cylinders, overhead valves, with two carburetters.

4 speed syncho-mesh gear box.

Low chassis frame. From this it appears that the new car will have a modified 25 h.p. Rolls-Royce engine and transmission fitted into a lowered and slightly shorter chassis. Judging from the performance of the essentially touring car which was tested

in the April number of MOTOR SPORT, this latest product of the Derby factory should give a very good account of itself.

Two saloon Bentleys were actually seen on the Track as long ago as May, and one of them was timed at about 88 m.p.h. The familiar Vee-shaped Bentley radiator was still in evidence, but the lines of the cars were much lower, as a result of the dropped chassis frame.

Something to look forward to at Olympia !
