Willhire revisited
The famous Willhire 24 Hours of the 1980s and early 1990s will be recalled at Donington Park on October 18, with a two-hour race into the night for production sports and touring cars.
Britain’s first round-the-clock race ran at Snetterton from 1980-1994 and was a great success at the peak of its popularity. Support eventually dwindled, however, and the race petered out.
Now, 20 years on, historic race promoter Julius Thurgood is keen to revive the flavour of the race, albeit over a much shorter distance. He hopes to attract entries from the type of cars that contested the original race.
