Maserati: 100 not out
The Donington Historic Festival (May 3-5) and Silverstone Classic (July 25-27) will both mark the centenary of the Maserati marque this year, with a special all-Maserati race at Donington topping the celebrations.
The double-header Maserati Centenary Trophy for any kind of pre-66 Maserati or OSCA will be a major attraction at Donington, with a grid including single-seaters, sports cars, pre-war cars and those powered by Maserati or OSCA engines. Entries are expected from across Europe.
Michael O’Shea of the Maserati Club UK said: “The Maserati Centenary Trophy will be the realisation of the Club’s ambition to hold a special race in Britain to celebrate 100 years of the marque.”
At Silverstone, the focus will be on car displays and parades. Maserati, founded in 1914, has a motor sport history dating from 1926, when Alfieri Maserati took class victory in the Targa Florio in his Tipo 26.
