Personal Images and Insights from the Stars of Formula 1

Books about Formula 1 tend to be 10 a penny, but this is one of the most intriguing for some time – and it’s all in a good cause.

Drivers, team principals and other paddock mainstays were issued with cameras and asked to contribute a photograph apiece, the results being auctioned off to raise funds for Great Ormond Street children’s charity.

There’s some obvious stuff in here – shots taken from within an F1 cockpit’s cosy confines, for instance – but other contributions reveal broader interests.

Mark Webber supplied an image taken while cycling in the French Alps, Esteban Gutiérrez opted for a gorgeous sunset, Sergio Pérez captured his bulldog posing in a swimming pool, Christian Horner took shots of his pet donkeys and Finnish duo Kimi Räikkönen and Valtteri Bottas opted for sumptuous landscapes.

So good is Räikkönen’s shot that there might just be an alternative career for him, next time he tires of F1. SA
