Francois Migault

Francois Migault, who has died aged 67, briefly made it to Formula 1 but he was a fixture on the sports car scene for more than 30 years.

Migault contested 13 Grands Prix for Connew, BRM and Embassy Racing/ Hill, but he would make no fewer than 25 starts at the Le Mans 24 Hours. That puts him fifth in the all-time list of starters at the French endurance classic.

Born in Le Mans, Migault made his first start there in 1971 at the wheel of a self-entered Porsche 911 and his final appearance came in the Dome LMP1 prototype in 2002. In between times, he raced a variety of machinery, including works cars for Matra, Mirage and Rondeau, which gave him a trio of podiums in 1974, ’79 and ’81.
