An all-new Festival of Speed event in Cornwall has been launched and will run in the grounds of Pentillie Castle and Estate on August 25/26 2012.

The mile-long hillclimb course starts on the bank of the River Tamar and climbs past Pentillie Castle, begun in 1698. Recently it featured in the Channel 4 series ‘Country House Rescue’, which started a turnaround in fortunes for the riverside estate.

Now, two days of motor sport and many other attractions will be the start of what the promoters hope will grow into an event of national importance. Saturday will feature a competitive hillclimb, while Sunday will be given over to demonstration runs.

“This is a really exciting opportunity to create a unique and exhilarating event in the West Country,” said Pentillie Castle owner Ted Coryton. “The Castle grounds are the perfect challenge, and provide a stunning backdrop for beautiful cars.”
