New speed run in Manx Classic
A new event, using the final mile of the TT course through the streets of Douglas, will be the opening competition on the 2010 Manx Classic. Three speed events on the closed public roads of the Isle of Man will make up the April 22-24 competition.
The new sprint course will start at the TT grandstand and run the opposite way to the motorcycle course through Governer’s Bridge. The following day is the Sloc Hillclimb, near Port Erin, and on the final day is the Lhergy Frissel Hillclimb, which is based at Ramsey on part of the TT course.
The island’s racing heritage dates from the 1904 Gordon Bennett Races, held on a 72-mile road circuit.
