Plans for the centenary of Brooklands Track in June are proceeding. On Saturday June 16 cars from before1920 will parade, and on the next day there is to be a similar display of those originating from 1921 to 1939. In these parades will be cars which competed at the famous (the origainal) motor course. Len Battyll tells me that already a great many of these have been found, plus a few Track personalities. He can be contacted on 01428 645724 by other would-be participants with suitable cars.

The VSCC opens its racing season on April 21 at Silverstone, followed by its not-to-be-missed events at Cadwell Park, Oulton Park, Mallory Park and Donington Park, with an invitation race for pre-war cars at the Silverstone Classic meeting in July. Its Light Car and Edwardian Section has its Welsh weekend on March 31/April 1, the Summer Rally in Hampshire on June 16-17 and an Autumn Tour in the Cotswolds on September 1.

Longevity? My Short and Mason clockwork barograph, which I was informed was supplied to the Brooklands Automobile Racing Club in 1906/07, still works perfectly.

This year’s Amilcar/Salmson International Rally will be held in Wales on July 29-August 1. Also, at Prescott on May 26-27 there is to be a French car enclosure, and the Amilcar-Salmson Register is having a road run on the Bank Holiday Monday (details from Janet Blake, 01869 343444). Other French light cars and cyclecars are welcome.
