The first Leda to join the Formula 5000 revival in the UK will be raced by Ian Jacobs this season. Jacobs has sold his March 742 to make way for the ex-Trevor Taylor LT25. Jacobs hopes to be ready for the first Derek Bell Trophy race, in April at Donington Park.
The famous ex-works Chevron B26 from 1974 is due back on the grid this season and should run at Classic Le Mans, with Gareth Burnett and John Sheldon driving. Known as ‘chocolate drop’ due to its livery, the ex-Brian Redman car has just been rebuilt by Burnett for its owner John Ruston.
The future of historic racing at Monza remains unclear due to ongoing noise Issues with local residents. The Coppa Intereuropa meeting on May 13/14 is scheduled to include TGP and Gp C/GTP, but the outcome of legal hearings in March will shape future unsilenced use of the famous venue.
The K Club is a new organisation formed by Simon Adams to run a European series of races for Appendix K saloon cars, both pre-66 and pre-76. The season starts at Silverstone on Apri123 and will take in races at Zandvoort and Magny-Cours, with two grids expected at most of the seven rounds.
The seventh running of the Modena Cento Ore classic will be on June 17-20, rather than in May as in recent years. The event will feature a completely new route, taking in races at Mugello, Misano and Magione in its 1000km, from a start in Modena. The Fiorano test track will also be used for a timed test.
Problems with local government forced the organisers of the Winter Challenge to Monte Carlo to run the event without any timed sections in France. From the competitive sections in Italy, Marcel and Alfons Geurts claimed victory in their Mercedes 280SL from the Volvo of Bert Dolk/Jan Berkhof.
