The TWR empire could be sold off following its recent financial collapse. Tom Walkinshaw’s organisation, valued at more than £100 million by administrative receivers, has extensive investment in automotive development facilities, including a technical centre at Leafield in Oxfordshire.

The TWR Group grew out of Walkinshaw’s own racing and came to prominence with BTCC titles in 1980 and ’81 with the Mazda RX7. Le Mans victories with Jaguar in 1988 and ’90 preceded more BTCC success with Volvo and a return to Le Mans with Nissan in 1997-98.
