It was with great delight that I saw the subject of Chris Amon’s missed championship raised in your most recent issue. I have been a lifelong fan of his and I’m looking forward to the new biography being written by Eoin Young.
Yes, that 1968 season could have been the one to change forever the life of the ‘most unlucky’ driver. The Ferrari 312 was a good-looking and useful tool, with a wonderful sound, that should have paved the way to real success.
As the article states, the Belgian Grand Prix was a real let-down. As Chris said at the time: “If not for bloody Bonnier it all would have been so easy!” And so should have gone the whole season!
