Moss and Shelsley reunited
Sir Stirling Moss will return to Shelsley Walsh for the first time in over 50 years this summer, when he takes part in a Cooper celebration at the Worcestershire hillclimb.
Moss competed at Shelsley from 1948 to 1950, but hasn’t been back since. That will all change on Sunday June 2, which is when he’s scheduled to demonstrate several Coopers on the 1000-yard course during a British Hillclimb Championship meeting.
“We’re running a class for Coopers at that event,” said Roger Thomas of the MAC. “Cars will be very carefully selected to represent the entire Cooper production; we expect to have several F1 s as well as sports-cars and 500s.”
Moss was actually refused an entry at his first attempt to compete at Shelsley, but he went on to score a class win in 1949.
His presence has been arranged by event sponsors Footman James.
