Banking Action

Millbrook, the new Brooklands; that’s the premise behind a Bank Holiday Monday spectacular on May 29, when cars built for hammering round the Members’ Banking will instead tackle the high-speed bowl at the Bedfordshire test track. Stanley Mann and Vaughan Davis are of course involved, having already established a number of speed records there in the latter’s “Mother Gun” Bentley, but this time there will also be a selection of othervintage machinery high on the banking, including ERA, Lagonda, Bugatti and the Birkin single-seater.

Millbrook is 25 years old, and provides the modern equivalent of the test facilities Brooklands did before the war; unfortunately real racing is not one of them, so this will be a demonstration day, backed by NGK Spark Plugs and aimed at raising funds for the Brooklands Museum. Sadly it’s for invited guests only, but if you can contrive a corporate reason to be there, ring Moy Motorsport on 0908 608 000.
