Mistaken identity
Sir,
Your February review of Terrific Stuff Video’s The BRA1 Collection was very fair, but where on earth did you get the idea that Alfred Owen (not, in 1952, a Sir) lit a consolation cigarette at Dundrod by striking a match on the BRM’s rear suspension?
My father was always tolerant of the habit in others essential when working with Mays and Berthon but alcohol and nicotine were not for him, ever.
He might have been chewing a consolation toffee at the time, but even after watching the video again I can see no sign of a match, let alone a cigarette. JE Owen,
Wednesbury, W Midlands.
