Londoner Paul Meale’s MOW Video concern has recently released a splendid two-hour review of last year’s Uniroyal Production Saloon Championship, largely based around the use of in-car cameras.

Entitled Vintage G&T, in deference to wry commentators Gerry Marshall and Tony Lanfranchi, Meale’s latest brainchild is a spectacular tribute to one of British’s best supported national championships. Marshall and Lanfranchi carried on-board cameras for much of the year, and the former’s spectacular wet-weather progress at both Brands Hatch and Cadwell Park is something to behold. Lanfranchi too gets involved in some high jinks, notably an unruly barging match with Alan Minshaw’s VW Golf at Mallory.

In short, it is a compelling two hours’ worth. All the significant incidents from the 1986 season are captured, and it is only to be hoped that Meale can attract the backing he needs to repeat the exercise this year.

The only slight criticism is that the championship’s most prestigious round, the Willhire 24 Hours, is afforded little more coverage than other events. Those interested in Britain’s only round-the-clock race need not worry; Meale markets a Hay-Fisher video which covers the event in depth!

Vintage G&T is priced at £29.90, and can be obtained direct from MOW Video, The Pits, 25 Brambles Close, Isleworth, Middlesex TW75BX. SA
