The Vintage SCC opens its 1979 racing season at Silverstone, commencing at about 13.15 hours on April 21st. This is the traditional 1908 GP Itala Trophy Meeting, at which the main race will be the 10-lap scratch race for vintage and Edwardian racing cars. There will be other races (or a combined race depending on number of entries) over this distance for pre-war racing cars and all-comers, to the VSCC date-limits. These contests over the Club circuit of 1.6 miles will be supplemented by the usual five-lap scratch race and handicap races but before this high speed trial will be run off, for vintage and p.v.t. sports cars. You can see practice from 9.00 hours and those who attend will get quite a whiff of the old Brooklands atmosphere, in more senses than one. This racing scores points towards the 1979 Motor Sport Brooklands Memorial Trophy and cash prizes put up by this journal. Entries have now closed. Public admission costs £2, which includes grandstand accommodation (children under 14, hopefully, to catch them young in vintage affairs, 30p each), with 70p for a Paddock transfer, or 20p for the under-14s. No dogs.
