Sir,

As a Rolls-Royce tester of the immediate post-First World War period, may I suggest that the 1914/15 R-R armoured cars had trembler coils and no hand mag. or self-starter, but an interior manual starter in addition to the normal handle. In 1919/20 high-tension coils were introduced and self-starters also, and some of the earlier chassis may have been modified and starters fitted. I don’t know if Rolls. Lawrence’s driver and author of “Steel Chariots in the Desert”, is still about; I think he would confirm this.
