Robbery?

Sir,

One evening at 9 p.m. my son was involved in a car accident in the Crystal Palace area. He was taken to hospital unconscious and the police arranged for his car, which was badly damaged, to be towed away. Next morning I went to collect it at the garage where £10.50 was demanded for towing the car a distance of approximately 3/4 mile.

After a deal of argument and a call to the RAC the maximum charge to either of the motor clubs was £5.50, which the garage eventually took. Is there no way that we can protest against this robbing of motorists lying injured in hospital?

[I suppose they rate their services at £5 plus an hour, which the Wages and Incomes boffins should ponder.—Ed.]
