Welcome as marking the end of winter, the full return of spring (it may be snowing, of course) the first V.S.C.C. race meeting of 1969 takes place at Silverstone, over the Club circuit, on April 19th. It follows the usual pattern, with several 5-lap handicaps and some more important races, of which the Itala Trophy Race over 10 laps is for vintage racing cars and the 15-lap Allcomers’ Scratch Race will include historic racing cars. There is also the 10-lap Melville and Geoghegan Trophies Race for vintage Sports cars, under a capacity class handicap. These races attract much interest, because of the variety of the cars competing, all those in the shorter handicaps being made before the war, the sight of drivers in action, the friendly enthusiasm which prevails and the fine sounds and smells which the older racing cars contrive to provide. Entries have closed. Racing starts at 12.30 p.m. and public admission is 7s. 6d. per person, with an additional 7s. 6d. for admission to the grandstands. Car parking is free and there is practice to watch in the morning, from 9 a.m. to 11.15 a.m. The Motor Sport Brooklands Memorial Trophy will again be competed for at V.S.C.C. race meetings throughout 1969, the first points being scored at this one. There will be a special car park in which Edwardian, vintage and p.v.t. cars can be inspected. The public isn’t admitted to the Paddock and mustn’t bring their dogs.

If you have been to previous V.S.C.C, meetings this one needs no further recommendation. If you have never seen one, try it on April 19th. We think you will find it very good value, if you have any feeling at all for the older cars and do not base your appreciation of racing merely on sheer speed.—W. B.
