Offord versus De Gaulle

In your March issue there is an article called “Offord versus De Gaulle,” which, no doubt, most of your readers have read. The Chairman of Offord’s in sending a letter to the President of France informing him of their decision not to sell any more Dauphines because of the failure to get in the Common Market will not upset De Gaulle, but what is most important, will completely isolate their own customers who probably have spent a great deal of money in purchasing French cars.

What service can they expect as stocks of spares run down. And can any trader today afford to lose the goodwill of his customers, or are they all going to be like Offord’s and get mighty patriotic, practically give their Continental cars away, and buy “British heaps.”

It would be interesting to know just how many French cars have been sold by this Agent.
