Motoring Etymology

Sir,

A friend who owned an Alfa Romeo called his house Monza. I recall a house near Brooklands called Molsheim which usually had one of that town’s products in its motor house.

Today, outside Ruislip, I passed by a house named “Peak Revs.” My wife confided that she supposed this to be a home for retired senior clergy but failed to follow me when the tachometer being well into the red I said I was doing an “Archbishop.”

I am, Yours, etc., John Roberts.  Great Missenden.
