POLICE v. MOTORISTS

Sir.

Did the correspondents who eomplain of injustice make a statement on oath ? A delcuce which will not submit itself to crossexamination is not worth making.

My encounters With police in 40 years’ motoring do not’ support the allegations of bullying and falsehood. When I was penalised for speeding, the whole procedure was marked by courtesy out fairness. An accident, involving serious. injury to a motorcyclist when I emerged into a major road, was painstakingly investigated for over six v,ecks before the Notice of Intended Proseention was cancelled. When a sheared •diettibutor drive stranded me in Fen country on a bitter winter night, a patrolling constable obtained aid and accommodation in daunting circumstances. It is small wonder that the men who deal is lii t he grins and tragic results.o.f road accidents have little time for the stupid highead who chooses to learn the rules the hard way. I am, Yours. etc.,

Leicester. A. W. BURTON.
