Record-breaking is one of the more interesting aspects of high-speed motoring. At Monza, in February, a Fiat 500, with Abarth engine conversion, broke six Class J international records, thereby confirming the technical merit of this twin-cylinder, air-cooled, rear-engined car, the power output of which was increased recently. The records broken were the four, five, six and seven days’ duration and the 15,000-km. and 10,000-mile distance records. For the full seven days the little Fiat averaged 67.268 m.p.h., inclusive of refuelling stops.
