As we close for Press, we regret to learn of the fatal accident to Eugenio Castellotti while testing a car at Modena. His death is deeply regretted especially by the Italian racing fraternity, who have lost a talented driver and an extremely popular personality. While never winning a Grand Prix, Castellotti was 1956 F.1 Italian Champion and his lone drive to victory in the 1956 Mille Miglia ranks as a truly outstanding achievement. His loss will have unhappy repercussions not only for the Ferrari team but for Italian motor-racing.
