FRIENDS OF OURS

To some a motor car is merely a there quickly ; to others, it’s a passport to fresh air and a change of scene. But we like to think of the readers of this journal as belonging to another class altogether — those to whom motoring is a joy in itself. Any motoring, anywhere, in almost any car. These are the people who love cars as other people love dogs, who are interested in everything about them,

and who know “what goes on under the bonnet”. We confess a special affection for this type of motorist. We enjoy talking technicalities with

them ; we understand their urge for the “little bit more”—not necessarily in sheer speed; and there’s nothing we like better than collaborating with them in making that sweet music—the smooth sound of a perfectly-running engine . . . To get back on this job again is one of the chief reasons why we long for an end of the war soon.
