STAINES MOTOR CLUB.

The headquarters of this Club are now at The Alexandra Hotel, Exchange Street, where Club nights will be held every Friday, to which all local motorists are cordially invited.

On Sunday, April i8th, the Amateur Reliability Trial for the Roper Shield will be held, and on Sunday, May 2nd, the Club will hold a social run to Buxton to see the Stock Machine Trial preliminaries.

A Club for all classes of motorists has been formed at Staines, with headquarters at the Bridge House Hotel, and is already going strong. There will be a Reliability Trial soon after Easter, and the subscription for the Club has been fixed at 75. 6d. per annum.

13.A.R.C. EASTER MEETING.

The first meeting of the B.A.R.C. takes place on Easter Monday, when the programme will include ten events among which will be the Easter Private Competitors’ Handicap, and the Lightning Short Handicap for the Founders’ Gold Cup, valued at £100. Racing will commence at i p.m.

SMALL CARS SCORE HEAVILY AGAIN AT SOUTHPORT.

Some excellent racing was seen during the car classes at the Southport race meeting on March 20th. As usual, the Frazer-Nashes, driven by B. H. Davenport and A. M. Jackson, accotmtedfor most of the short races.

The Earl of Cottenham appeared on a 2-litre supercharged Sunbeam and accounted for the 20 mile event, fighting out a thrilling duel all the way with G. J. Jackson on a 3-litre Sunbeam. In the 1,100 c.c. classes the Morgans, driven by Bullough, Horton, and Moss, swept the board.

The only other competitors to distinguish themselves in any way were F. Horton (Vulcan 2-litre), who secured two seconds, and R. V. Fontes (Bugatti), who secured a second and a third.

ANOTHER RECORD BY C. F. TEMPLE.

C. F. Temple has added another record to his list of successes by creating a new average speed of 105.14 m.p.h. at Montlhery. His machine was an O.E.C. Temple fitted with a British Anzani engine and the distance covered was fifty miles. At the same time new figures were set up for the fitty and one _hundred kilometres, the times being 17 minutes 46.58 seconds and 35 minutes 26.35 seconds, giving the average speeds of 104.78 miles per hour and 104.98 miles per hour.
